While initially beloved in her home of Macon, GA, people grew suspicious when members of her family mysteriously started dying off after inexplicable illnesses. Anjette's story is the subject of the book, WHISPER TO THE BLACK CANDLE, by Jaclyn White. Former restaurant owner turned arsenic muderess, she was convicted of poisoning two husbands, her mother in law, and her oldest daughter, Marcia.
